24 Hours of Turning 24.

I’ve become a procrastinator, when it comes to penning down my thoughts. Well, technically I am prioritizing other things right now, but since its 8th of August already, I couldn’t think of a better time to type-out my feelings of turning 24, than on my 24 years and 1 month birthday!

It’s weird how a number can be so relaxing in certain contexts and frightening in others. “Deadline approaching? Relax, we got 24 hours bro!”. “You’re officially 24! What plans for the future? When are you getting married?”. You get the gist of it.

Despite the variety of thoughts overshadowing me before my 24th birthday, it was 24 hours of catching up with my long-lost friends, witnessing my father travel half-way across the country to celebrate the day with me, appreciating my mother’s efforts to fry samosas for the first time in 15 years, and applauding my brother’s generosity to treat me to a stomach-expanding dinner full of variety of sizzlers! Not to forget, my absolute gem of friends fulfilling my wish list like my personal set of Santas!

To be honest, I was expecting the day to have a mellow touch. After a weekend of absolutely no rest and just partying and celebrating my parents turning 30 together, I was more than happy to keep my birthday on the low-key end of celebrations. But the smallest of things like cutting a small pineapple pie at the stroke of midnight, while a friend danced on Happy Birthday for me, to being up late while catching up with friends, miles away from me, and just by being with the people who mean the world to me, it was probably the best way to celebrate turning 24!

I don’t know what lies in store for me hereon. But I’m ready to face it, like a 24-year-old would!

Here’s to adulting in the simplest way possible! Cheers!

Happy Birthday to Me!
