I’ve always been the old-school romantic who loved creating the ideas of true love based on typical Bollywood films. For me, Aditya-Geet from Jab We Met or Rahul-Anjali from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham were goals. What I failed to see, until now, were these off-the-screen people who’ve set extremely high standards for what a good marriage looks like, even 30 years down the line.
Around February this year, I realized that my parents will officially complete 30 years of tying the knots to each other in December. 30 years of dedicating their lives to each other, raising my brother and I with the best values that they could imbibe in us, and ensuring that we live a life of comfort, despite any difficult times. 30 years of sharing all the hardships together, and yet coming out smiling brighter than ever. If this isn’t a moment worth celebrating, I don’t know what is.
My brother and I decided to throw a surprise weekend for them, calling in their friends and close gang from the various parts of the country. ‘Keeping it a secret’ part of the plan was the most difficult, but I guess the happiness on their faces spoke volume.
It was a weekend where I witnessed my parents spending two days without any form of worry, laughing the entire day with friends, and relaxing amidst all the chaos that we call life. We witnessed 24 hours of friendship that’s been strong since ’91, and love that has been brewing since ’93.
“If in 30 years, my future husband (whoever that might be) and I are half as happy as mom and dad are today, I’d consider myself the luckiest person alive.” Love you both!

Well organised celebration organised by two little angels. No word to express happiness which was felt with my loving son , daughter, wife, and friends. Hats off to secrecy plan maintained. Also entire program was so well designed professionally with full of love and charm. Every moment,it was full of surprises. It was one of the best celebration in last 30 years, even much better than marriage, the day when we became one from two. These two days will forever in memory.
